Meridian CUSD #223 Lunch Program Information
Meridian School District Lunch Program
The Meridian Community Unit School District participates in the National School Lunch Program. A nutritional lunch is planned and served each day that meets the USDA Recommended Daily Allowances for your student. The Food and Nutrition Services Department is committed to providing a variety of foods that taste great and provides the proper nutrition needed for the growth and development of the children in our community.
Lunch Accounts: Each student will have a school meal account. In an effort to minimize negative balances, when a student account drops below $5.00, the parent/guardian will be notified by letter, phone call or e-mail. The automated lunch system will only allow students to charge up to negative $5.00. Each student is given a lunch card with his or her name and account number along with a bar code and ID number. This system’s efficiency expedites the serving lines allowing students an adequate mealtime. Lunch accounts are taken daily in the classroom. Students are asked to raise their hand for a hot lunch.
Payments: Payments can be made with cash, check or credit/debit cards. Cash and Check Payments should be placed in an envelope marked with the student’s first and last name and the amount enclosed. Checks should be made payable to Meridian School District #223. Credit/debit card payments are made online using the Illinois Fund E-Pay System. The Illinois Fund E-Pay System is accessible via the Meridian Community Unit School District’s website, www.meridian223.org. Parents can check their child's current balances and monitor items purchased via Skyward’s Family Access. The Skyward Family Access link is found on Meridian School Districts Main web page, www.meridian223.org. Family Access login and passwords are available once your student is entered in the district’s student software system.
Free and reduced lunches: Applications for free and reduced lunches will be available at the district office after July 1. The Superintendent of Schools follows established federal guide lines for the free and reduced lunch program in determining a family's eligibility for the program.
We are happy to have your child in our district. If I can assist you with anything, please email me at lreber@mail.meridian223.org.
Sincerely,
Lisa Reber
